The Charlie West Blues Fest was held on July 17, 2010 at the Appalachian Power Park in downtown Charleston, West Virginia. The festival is produced by the West Virginia Blues Society, Inc.to recognize the Yeager Airport - fondly known as “Charlie West” and home of the 130th Airlift Wing of the WV Air National Guard. Each year the West Virginia Blues Society honors the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families and to share the healing powers of the Blues through this festival.
National acts on deck included Bryan Lee and Nick Moss and the Fliptops with notable regional acts who were also International Blues Challenge semi-finalists; Kristine Jackson and Mojo Theory. The crowd was pleased as the weather gods blessed the festival with sunshine while the thunderstorms passed around the town. Attendance was up and many friends were on site to enjoy a day of some fine blues music. This was the 3rd annual Festival and each year it continues to grow in attendance and sponsorship. On July 13, 2010, the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at Station Square presented an evening with B. B. King with special guest the Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real band. Main stage opening act featured hometown 'Burgh blues by the Mahajibbee band and on second stage entertainment was provided by the Mystic Knights. In the Blues the rain never hurt anyone, so through the rivers of waters that surrounded the stage all three bands kept the blues music real as waves of dancing umbrellas jammed to the music.
